DEVELOPING A KINGDOM MINDSET

Bible reading

MATTHEW 16:23; NEHEMIAH 4:6; MATTHEW 6:33

Then the Kingdom and Dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole Heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His Kingdom is an Everlasting Kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.
Daniel 7:27 (NKJV)

One of the most significant facts about the human mind is that a person's life always tends to travel in the direction of his most predominant thoughts. This is one of the reasons the Holy Scriptures tell us that "as he thinks in his heart, so is he..." (Prov. 23:7a). Having the proper mindset or mentality under any given circumstance whatsoever is one of the most vital factors that is responsible for wholesome and functional Christian Living. The Truth of the matter is that our thoughts are shaped by our perceptions, mindset and paradigms, hence it becomes absolutely imperative to us as Designated Representatives of the Lord to make a conscious effort to develop a Kingdom Mentality.

A mentality or mindset could essentially be defined as "a habitual or characteristic mental attitude that determines how someone interprets or responds to any given situation." Simply put, someone's outlook in life is shaped by his mentality. It serves as the mould from which all of his thoughts are cast (hence the term "mindSET." The Holy Scriptures emphasize the following in Apostle Paul's Second Epistle to the Church in Corinth: "CASTING DOWN ARGUMENTS and every high thing that exalts itself against the Knowledge of God, BRINGING EVERY THOUGHT INTO CAPTIVITY TO THE OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST..." (2 Cor. 10:4). Think about this for a moment: It may be possible to cast OUT devils, but one can only cast DOWN ideologies, arguments and philosophies which have been gradually shaped over a period of time by the wrong mentality.

Developing a Kingdom Mindset would always require of us a Holistic Kingdom Perspective whereby every single thought, word and deed is shaped by this paradigm: How does this positively affect the Kingdom of God and the Dominion Mandate? This was exactly what the Lord Jesus had at the back of His Mind when He rebuked Simon Peter in Caesarea Philippi (Mk. 8:31-33). Your mindset shapes your values, which in turn shape your principles and priorities. Only those Genuine Christian believers who cultivate a Kingdom Mindset end up becoming assets rather than liabilities to God and His Agenda (Matt. 25:14-30). The Lord God Almighty is in the Process of raising up for Himself an Exceeding Great Army of diehard saints whose burning heart's desire is to seek the establishment of His Kingdom above all else.

Prayer

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, to You alone do we ascribe all the Glory, Honour and Praise. O Lord, please help us to develop a deep Kingdom Mindset which would cause our priorities to reflect Yours in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
