It is an established fact that every single nation is the product of a society which in turn is born out of a people. Every single individual is born out of a family while all families as ordained by the Lord God Almighty Himself are born out of Holy Matrimony. Simply put, individual people from various families make up the society while a society of people results in a nation. The process of nation building requires careful attention which needs to be given to the foundation of the people who formed the nation. This same foundation is referred to as the Family.
In every family, the parents have been granted the God-given Responsibility of training up their children in the way they should go and when they grow old, they will not depart from it. (Prov. 22:6). The most foolproof way to build a nation is by training our children in the Principles of God which are an Expression of His Core Values. Nations and parents must understand that whatever their children would eventually become is determined by the kind of training they would receive. The best training you could ever give your children is to instill Godly Christian Values within them.
The most important thing for us as parents is simultaneously the most critical for our children. If the Lord God Almighty is indeed the Centre of your life, then you must guarantee that Christ Jesus and Him Crucified becomes the Same to your child (1 Cor. 2:2). The bottom line is that one can never give what one does not have.
The following are some Basic Principles involved in bringing up our children in the Way of the Lord Jesus Christ in order to facilitate Nation Building:
RAISING THEM UP IN THE LORD
You must acknowledge what you are investing in and always put in your best effort (Eph. 6:4). You must be a reflection of whatever your children eventually become. Teach them to fear the Lord and serve Him.
CULTIVATING THE PROPER ENVIRONMENT FOR THEM
Your environment has a way of programming your children more than you could ever do. For instance, the community your children live in and the schools they attend have more of an influence over them than even their parents. On this premise, you must make efforts to control and condition their environment. This also includes the company they keep (Prov. 13:20) as well as their constant acquaintances.
CHANNELING YOUR TRAINING
Every Productive Training requires a constant sequence of actions which, when left alone, would be perpetuated due to the presence of systems (Deut. 6:6-8; Ps. 71:17-18). This is so vital because systems are normally more powerful than persons.
MODELLING AGAPE LOVE AND MUTUAL RESPECT IN THEIR PRESENCE
This is especially important with respect to your relationship with your spouse because the examples your children consistently see would either make or mar them (Eph. 5:22-33).
Building up any nation with Moral Integrity and Moral Values can only be accomplished through the Standards of God in order for every generation to stand firmly (2 Tim. 2:19-21). There are no shortcuts or quick fixes in the pursuit of this Sacred Project. This can only be achieved through intentional and responsible parenting in our families. The strength of any nation is solely dependent on the strength of its Family Structure henceforth we have a Divine Duty as Christian believers to become intentional in our daily parenting.
